For my funding application to go to school for website design I had to explain why I wanted to take that course. Here is my mini-essay.

I have had a interest in computers since I was a kid and programming using “basic” to create programs I couldnt even run because my vic 20 was not powerful enough. This was before
the internet was even invented. In my early 20’s I would have to connect with sites through telephone numbers. It was around this time that windows just came out, and a friend of mine showed it to me for the first time. Although interested in working with computers I got caught up in daily life and worked in a long line of low paying, entry level jobs. It did not take long to end up being 40 years old, with no education, and no steady income. These days I have dedicated my free time to working online in the field of website design, and in search engine optimization. I have built several websites, and done freelance work for some companies. Since I am self taught there are huge gaps in my knowledge. I realized that I was going to need some formal training. Then I found out through workzone that there was a program I qualified for where I could get funding for retraining. Since I have been in and out of work and was currently unemployed I made the decision to pursue this option. I did some labour market research and discovered that website design is a growing field that does well even when the rest of the economy is suffering. Entry level wages were comparable to what I was making in construction, but with experience I could earn $65,000 + per year. Self employment is also recommended if one wants to increase their earnings, with contracts to build websites being offered every day. Kelowna has several website design companies, many of which are hiring right now. Vancouver is considered the epi-center for website design followed by Victoria. The school I want to attend offers a 8 month course in digital graphics, and website design. This is taught in a classroom setting by an instructor and with hands on training. Practical application of our skills are demonstrated by creating webpages, magazine spreads, posters, and brochures using inDesign and QuarkXPress. By the end of the course we will have put together a portfolio of our work, and then we go onto our 5 weeks of work experience. Most students end up with job placement through this practicum.

Our subconscious mind, lower self, call it what you will, is a very good servant. It always gives us precisely what we ask. However, it is non-judgmental it does not analyze what goes into it at all. Just as a sponge will soak up whatever type of liquid which you put it into, so does our subconscious mind soak up everything and I MEAN everything we see, hear and speak!

It is a very very efficient servant! It does exactly what we tell it to do! Do not be fooled, it will obey your every command.

If for example you are making an Affirmation to create an Abundance of Wealth into your life - be careful with the words you choose. Do not use Affirmations with words such as ‘will’ ‘one day’ and never never say can’t cannot haven’t or any negative words at all.

The subsconscious mind will hear and act upon the negative words. If you haven’t the money to pay a bill, always without fail Affirm that the bill is now paid!.

If you think that you haven’t enough money to pay the bill, the subconscious mind, loyal servant that it is will definitely make sure you haven’t enough money to pay the bill.

So, make it your number one rule to always Affirm in the positive manner, not the negative. You will find that your Affirmations, whatever they are, will definitely start happening for you, just like magic:)

Personally I favour offering online services, and selling

Stick to what you know, and outsource what you can, but there are some basic skills you should learn if you want to be successful.

When you start out your going to have to do most of the work, or pay someone to do it for you.

Hopefully you have some computer knowledge because this is where you will be spending most of your time.

Internet marketers need to have a way with words. Copywriting, content creation, and article writing will become a way of life for you. Get used to it, learn to like it, because that is just the way it is. Ok you can hire writers from india on the cheap, but you will still have to provide a outline of what you require, and then want to tweak the final drafts.

Learn how to design a website. It is easy, you can find free html editors that make it as simple as point and click.

Know how to set-up a database, and upload files to your hosting server. Take the time to learn how to create a simple paypal button.

Can’t stand the idea of building your own site. No big deal, bite the bullet, find someone who will do it for you for a reasonable price. Hopefully they will add some great graphics so your site shines.

You will still need to learn how to run your site though. What happens if you want to make a simple change and don’t even know how to use a online html editor?

Ok you have decided on a product and you have a website. You still must overcome the biggest hurdle facing all internet marketers.

Traffic, and building a relationship with your visitors.

Here is how to do it simply, fast and furious:

You need content (hence you finely honed writing skills). You must know what keywords you will use promote your product. Every single keyword should have its own webpage.

Bookmark these pages using sites like del.ici.ous and the like.

With great content you can start building backlinks that point to your webiste from sites with high page rank like youtube, ezine articles, and craigslist.

Write articles that pertain to your niche, and included a link to your site in the about the author section. Participate in forums. Share your knowledlge, and promote yourself, and your site by offering great advice, and deals that people can not say no to.

Hold-up! This traffic is all gonna go to waste if you do not capture your visitors names and emails.

A auto-respnder is the most critical tool you will need. It creates you opt-in form that you will put on your sites.

We can spend a lot of time working on our mental well being but our physical being is just as important. This is especially so when you are in the IM business, as you do spend long hours in a sedentary position in front of a monitor.

There for it is necessary to ensure that you take a break, preferably every hour a the most.

For the sake of your eyesight - look away and gaze into the distance - do not looked fixedly but in a soft relaxed manner. Just allow your eyes to rest on nothing in particular. Also, roll your eyes, first one way then the other. This also helps to naturally strengthen the eye muscles.

You body too needs a break. Stand up and move! If possible take a short brisk walk around the garden, or around your house. You should also stretch, roll your head, first up and down, then side to side, completing with a full circle or two.
Shrug your shoulders, up and down and then forward and back. Touch your toes, place your hands flat on the floor if you can and really stretch out the leg muscles. You can, if you are able, walk your hands forward and then bend first one knee then the other, this will help stretch out the calf muscles, which can get very cramped after long hours of just sitting still.

It may sound like a lot to do but it only takes a few moments and you will find your body and your mind are more relaxed. In this state you will work faster and your thinking will become clearer.

I am not saying here for one moment that there is anything wrong with Affiliate Marketing. However, if you create your own product, you of course can then start your own Affiliate program.

By this means you are using leverage to gain not only money but exposure and traffic.

1. Kill them off fast! Acknowledge them, if you don’t they’ll keep tapping at your mind- then let them go!

2. Immediately replace them with positive thoughts - your goals - stay in the state of being, i.e. keeping your goals and desires firmly in your mind. Be grateful too for everything you have.

3. Dont beat up on yourself, as I have said negative thoughts are a natural part of our evolution, so be gentle with yourself and just let go of any negativity.
