Keep Your Body Fit
We can spend a lot of time working on our mental well being but our physical being is just as important. This is especially so when you are in the IM business, as you do spend long hours in a sedentary position in front of a monitor.
There for it is necessary to ensure that you take a break, preferably every hour a the most.
For the sake of your eyesight - look away and gaze into the distance - do not looked fixedly but in a soft relaxed manner. Just allow your eyes to rest on nothing in particular. Also, roll your eyes, first one way then the other. This also helps to naturally strengthen the eye muscles.
You body too needs a break. Stand up and move! If possible take a short brisk walk around the garden, or around your house. You should also stretch, roll your head, first up and down, then side to side, completing with a full circle or two.
Shrug your shoulders, up and down and then forward and back. Touch your toes, place your hands flat on the floor if you can and really stretch out the leg muscles. You can, if you are able, walk your hands forward and then bend first one knee then the other, this will help stretch out the calf muscles, which can get very cramped after long hours of just sitting still.
It may sound like a lot to do but it only takes a few moments and you will find your body and your mind are more relaxed. In this state you will work faster and your thinking will become clearer.
