How To Sell A Domain
Domain Flipping For Profit
One of the first ways I made money online was by selling a domain. My ten dollar investment ended up giving me over two hundred dollars in return. I didn’t do anything special to promote, or even work at selling this domain. All I did was list it on sedo. Someone saw it, like the name, and offered me my asking price. Instead of taking this first offer I put the domain up for auction. I received two bids, and the domain was sold to the highest one. Sedo handled all the details. The purchaser payment was put into escrow, while I tranferred the domain as instructed by sedo. My check was sent in the mail, I smiled all of the way to the bank.
Now, I think I just got lucky with this sale. If you actually want to make money selling domains what you want to do is find expired domains that still have page rank, and are getting traffic. A domain with traffic is worth some cash. If you can snatch it up cheap ($60 min.), and then resell it, you can make a decent profit. This is a very competive business though, and it also requires you to research the domains to make sure they have some worth. There are tools out there that make this process really easy. Domain profiteer is the one I use. It is expensive, so you have to start buying and selling to pay the monthly fee. Last time I checked domain profiteer was sold out, but those kind of things always open back up in the future. Checking out expired domains is fun, and it is unbelieveable what some of them sell for. The main problem I had with expired domains is that all the ones that had potential where snatched up by someone else at a price I could not, or would not, pay. There is money to be made flipping domains. When I get the time I am going to get right into this biz, and hopefully have the same kind of success I had when I started out.
