Get Your Website On Page One Of Google

If you want the search engines to send you traffic you really need to be on the first page of the search results. I mean how many people actually look at the results after page one? Some will, but the amount of traffic you will get from being on page 2 will be fairly dismal compared to being on page one. You don’t have to be the very first website in the search results but you should definitly aim to get on that first page.

The keyword that you most want to rate high in the search engines for should be on your main page. Your other keywords/phrases should be on other pages. Each keyword should have its own page. Write your content around your keyword, but keep it people friendly. The search engines give more importance to the words at the top of the site. Put your keyword in your title, your first sentence, and throughout your copy. Don’t go keyword crazy, instead use variations of your keyword or plurals. It is also helps to bold your keyword, put them in quotes, or put them in italics.

On Page Optimization

Optimize your site by getting your title tag and meta tag in order.

The difference between the title tag and the meta tag can be longer, a couple sentences or a pharagraph in length. The meta tag is used to give the search engine robots a summary of what a webpage is about. Sometimes, but not always search engines will use the description in the meta tags to describe a webpage. This does not happen all the time because they might just use a section of text on a webpage instead, if it happens to be relevant to a search query. Also google may use the text in the meta tag as a description of your website in the “open directory project”

Beat Your Competitors

Install the google toolbar with the website page rank checker. Type in your keyword. The sites that come up in the search results are the sites you will have to out-do in order to rank for your chosen keyword. To beat your competitors you will need to have more quality backlinks than they do. To get a idea of how many backlinks a site has click on the pagerank tools backlink button on the drop-down menu. You won’t see every single backlink a site has just ones that come from sites with a page rank of three or higher. This will give you a pretty good idea of what you need to do to out-rank those sites.

Get Backlinks To Your Website

Having alot of backlinks from high PR web-sites is the most important part of SEO. There are many ways to get those valuable backlinks. Backlink building can be a time consuming process so you really want to leverage your time and get as many back links as you can quickly and easily. Press releases are a excellent backlinking strategy as well as forum markeing (my favorite), and article marketing. Comment on blogs does not seem to work as well as it used to, due to the fact that your link may not be followed by the search engines. People can still click on the link, but it won’t pass any link juice onto your site.

When it comes to blogging Yaro knows his stuff. Along with gideon, the video pro, the two of them have put together 10 videos on how to become a blogger. I review alot of videos, some by top marketers, and most of them are long boring sales letters with no useful content at all. Usually I can’t even stand to watch them to the end. Yaro and Gideons videos are without a doubt the absolutely best videos I have ever seen on any topic.

Traffic

These 10 free videos cover the basics of blogging. If you are interested in making money online then you really should have a blog. Blogs serve a few purposes. They are a easy way to add fresh content to your website. The search engines love fresh content, especially blogs, because they are
updated often. The more you blog, the more often the search engines will crawl and index your site. That means more traffic, and if you want to make money online traffic is absolutely critical. Blogs are a great way to earn the favour of the search engines and get that traffic.

Web 2.0

Blogs are also interactive. People visiting your site can leave comments, and you can respond to them. If someone has a question, they can ask and receive a reply from you. This makes blogs a friendly place to discuss a topic, learn new things, and contribute any tips one may have. People will re-visit a blog to check the comments, and read new posts; That means repeat traffic for you.

Subscribers

Put a rss feed button on your blog so people can subcribe to it, and then they will receive updates on all of the posts you make.

Make Money

Besides traffic, interaction, and user generated content, blogs make money too. Not only can you sell your products, or affilates, but you can earn money from advertising too. The simple way to do this is to ad adsense ads to your blog, but as your blog gets more popular you can charge advertisers a monthly fee to put ads on your site. This later method will make you more money, and is something that Yaro covers in more detail. But how about instead of listening to me ramble on about blogs and blogging you visit become a blogger and watch the “Become A Blogger Videos” for yourself. It is alot more entertaining, and everything is explained clearly. I promise that you will love these videos as much as I do.

“Use the internet to get off of the internet”

If you are like me you spend to much time online. Having real relationships are going to be more beneficial for you. Meet like minded people, form business relationships, and find joint venture partners. I have not joined meetup yet, but I am looking forward to meeting some internet folks who are interested in building websites, launching new products, and making money online. Talking to people one on one live is alot different to chatting online. Internet relationships lack substance. People do not feel as if they have anything invested in the relationship - it is not even considered a real relationship. Meeting up in person, and making friends is going to be far more productive. You can get to know a person better, and find out if this is someone you want to do business with. I am speaking from experience here. I have had business partners in the past, and alot of the times they started off as friendships, or if they where strickly business they often evolved into a friendly relationship. I would rather do business with a friend than a stranger I met over the internet. I have gone that route as well, and it has not gone well. People can be so eager to start a business together, but after the excitment wears off they just stop answering your emails. This can end up being a waste of time and money that you have invested in the joint venture. Personally I would never start a JV with someone I have not met in person. Ideally I would like to meetup with some local people who would like to work together closely on a project.

Backlinks are the most important part of seo, and getting traffic to your website. a backlink is often reffered to as a “vote” for your site. The higher the page rank of the site that is linking to yours the more valuable that link is.

Backlink Basics

You can create backlinks to your site several ways. The most basic ways are through article marketing, forum marketing, and by making comments on blogs.

Blog comments are not always affective, as the links may not be followed. The search status plugin for firefox highlights any no follow links. This plug in also display googles page rank, and alexa ranking.

Other Backlinking Methods

Other methods include submitting your website to search engine directories, as well as rss directories.

If you have something newsworthy to announce, issuing a press release is the number one way to get backlinks, and alot of traffic.

Viral Backlinking

Creating link bait is a viral method of getting backlinks. The idea behind linkbait is that you have something on your website that is so cool, or entertaining that people want to link to it. This could simply be great content, or it could be a helpful tool, free software, a video, or better yet a video game.

Giving away templates, widgets, and scripts are excellent ways to get backlinks. For example this blog is using a template by dosh dosh, and they have included a link to their site on the bottom of this page. Widgets are popular, and people use them on facebook, myspace, squidoo, websites, and blogs.

You may of seen Free hit counters that also have links to the creators website.

There are widget directories, and shareware directories, and script directories that can give you alot of exposure.

Website tags are a important part of search engine optimization. The title tag is used by search engines to find out what the topic of the page is about. Use the title tag to describe each page on your website. You can place the keyword or keyword phrase that accurately defines that webpage. Avoid keyword stuffing, as it is more effective to have one page for each keyword, instead of trying to have that one page cover a whole bunch of keywords.

Often webmasters find themselves trying to please the search engines and forget that it is real people that are doing these searches. The title tag is your opportunity to give people a good idea of what a particular webpage is all about. The text that is in your title tag is what is (usually) shown in the first line of the search engine results. Keep this description short, so the entire title is shown, if it is to long it will be cut off. The words that are in a persons search, will be shown in bold type in the search engine results.

When a person visits a webpage the title tag description is also shown on the top of the website browser .

Key points on title tags

-The title tag describes what a webpage is about to the search engines AND to people doing a search.

-Tile tag should be descriptive, contain the keyword for that page, and accurately describe what that page is about.

-The title tag should not be so long that it is cut off when shown in search engine results.
